Who We Are

 

Logo of the FFOA web siteThe 'Former FAO and Other UN Staff Association' (FFOA) was created in 1971 by a group of FAO pensioners. FFOA is a non-profit making body with offices at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) headquarters in Rome.
FFOA is open to former and current staff of any United Nations organization or agency as well as to other persons or bodies who are interested in the Association. While only individuals can become members of FFOA, other entities can register themselves as users of this Web site to collaborate with the Association on a voluntary basis or merely to keep themselves informed about its affairs.
FFOA is run by volunteers who have all retired from one of the United Nations organizations in Rome.

Its aim is to promote and safeguard the interests of its members and of UN pensioners in general.

In particular, FFOA

  • represents retired staff on all matters of interest to them in relation to FAO, ICCROM, IFAD, WFP, the UN Joint Staff Pension Fund or any other entity taking decisions affecting them;
  • provides assistance to members on matters concerning pensions, medical insurance, obtaining a permit to stay in Italy, and other relevant issues;
  • organizes social events to promote contact among friends and former colleagues;
    issues a newsletter and other publications;
  • develops and maintains this Web site;
  • maintains close contacts with the Associations of Rome-based agency serving staff and of other UN pensioners;
  • promotes and supports the purposes and activities of the organizations of the United Nations system.
