Pensions and medical insurance have been among the top concerns of FFOA’s members from its establishment in 1971. FFOA follows the deliberations of the UN Joint Staff Pension Fund, and demystifies the highly complex issues of pension contributions, investments and disbursements on behalf of our members. FFOA cannot provide personal advice regarding taxes or investments, but we maintain a roster of financial consultants with long experience in assisting pensioners.
FFOA closely monitors performance of the medical insurance provider, Cigna (FFOA is a member of the FAO Advisory Committee on Medical Coverage, the WFP Health Insurance Board, and the IFAD Medical, Compensation and Life Insurance Advisory Board), to ensure that pensioners retain access to appropriate, high quality, reasonably priced medical coverage.
Being a pensioner can be difficult and lonely. FFOA provides free assistance, guidance or referral to members as required, across the issues related to retirement.
FFOA also offers small, no-interest loans (maximum Euro 1,500) to help members meet short-term emergency requirements.
FFOA's leisure activities included guided visits to exhibitions, excursions or tours to interesting sites in Rome, other parts of Italy and abroad, a lunch in connection with the Annual Assembly, a year-end cocktail party, as well as Coffee Mornings, held the first Wednesday of every month on the FAO premises.
