 The Joint Advisory Committee on Medical Care (JAC/MC) is a standing committee which advises the Director-General of FAO on questions concerning medical coverage of both FAO staff members and pensioners participating in the medical coverage plans. WFP and IFAD have also established medical insurance committees on which FFOA is a member.  These Committees review the performance of the medical insurance company (Cigna) and are responsible for the periodic tendering of the medical insurance plans by the three Agencies. 

The Committees deal in particular with all questions related to the contract with CIGNA, such as premiums and benefits and service levels and performance concerning both the Basic Medical Insurance Plan (BMIP) and the Major Medical Benefits Plan (MMBP).

We collaborate with the other staff bodies represented on the Committees in promoting the interests of both staff and retirees.

Our participation in the JAC/MC enables us to present specific issues brought to our attention by FFOA members and give advice on the action to be taken.

We are also contributing to the discussion in FICSA and FAFICS on future long-term care provisions.
